报告英文简介:

This study was concerned with the development of an activity-based carbon footprint model aiming to estimate the carbon emission in the manufacturing processes of intimate apparel products. Based on findings from data collection, visits, interviews and observation of 10 partner companies, the manufacturing processes of 4 common products were dissected into activity-based carbon footprint constituting modules, and the origin of carbon emission generation of each module was identified and compiled in a form of an industry-specific database. A customized computer program was built to account for the total carbon footprint of individual products. When compared with the Life Cycle Analysis approach, the proposed model would offer superior flexibility and cost effectiveness in carbon footprint disclosure and analysis that fit the characteristics and demand of today’s intimate apparel industry. It is also envisaged that intimate apparel manufacturers can use the model to explore carbon reduction opportunities for the development of their individual low carbon competitive advantage.
